Firefighters Use An Angle Grinder To Free A Trapped Ballsack

Angle Grinder

The staff at Mater University Hospital in Dublin have seen all kinds of cases come through their doors, but this was the first time they had to call in the fire department with an angle grinder to help with an operation. When a man came to the emergency room suffering in his groin, the cause was immediately apparent: he’d fastened a titanium ring around his ballsack and it was cutting off blood flow down there.

Why exactly the dude had a metal band around the base of his scrotum is up for discussion, and he wasn’t in any mood to offer up that information, only saying that it’d been stuck there for seven hours. The hospital certainly didn’t have the tools on hand to deal with it, so they made the call and the fire services showed up.

Angle grinders are great for slowly and steadily grinding their way through tough materials, but using one that close to your willy seems like a recipe for disaster. Amazingly, steady hands prevailed and the dude (who was thankfully sedated with a mix of Ketamine, Fentanyl and Propofol) came out the other side intact after a solid 20 minutes of work.

The Irish Post has the whole story.
