Beach Balls Are The LSU Tigers’ Lucky Charms

LSU Tigers Beach Ball

The fans are often seen as another player in sports games, and LSU learned that in a recent game with Florida State in the College World Series. The Tigers kicked off a comeback to take the game 5-4 after a beach ball from the stands bounced onto the field in the eighth inning. It was picked up by Florida State outfielder Steven Wells, who tossed it back into the stands.

Unfortunately for Wells, that might have cursed his ball handling. When Antoine Duplantis was up to bat, he knocked a single that rolled under Wells’ glove. An inaccurate throw to second base from the same player allowed LSU to tie up the game. LSU advanced in the series, and they’re up against hot property Oregon State next.

Now a New Orleans restaurant is looking to keep the streak alive with the help of some more balls. According to The Advocate, Warehouse District eatery Compère Lapin purchased 20 inflatable balls and had them shipped to TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha to arrive today.
