Check Out These Cool Invisible Polymer Balls

Science is fun – or at least it should be. One of the coolest things about the digital era is that people doing interesting experiments can now share their results with the world at the click of a mouse, simply by uploading a video to YouTube. So this clip of “invisible polymer balls,” sold under the brand name “Water Balz,” is pretty awesome. These spheres are made out of a super-absorbent polymer that can admit a huge amount of water into its cellular structure, growing many times its original size in the process. Because they have an angle of refraction identical to water, when you drop them below the surface they can’t be seen. It’s pretty cool stuff.
