YouTube has, over the years, been everything from a music video hub to a streaming service; now, it’s aiming to be even more of a haven for cord cutters by entering the extremely fraught content provider arena. What that develops into remains to be seen, but one thing seems certain: YouTube would not be in this position today if not for the anonymous, unique individuals who upload things like Fall Foraging, and Cracking Hickory Nuts.
Almost everything about this video from user “jnull0” seems to be accidental — from his username, to begin with, to not knowing the date during his narration, and the avant garde style itself (he ends the video by saying “bye bye”). But it’s all intentional, and charming, and a terrific reminder of why YouTube is so unique. Sure, some sites will let you stream an NFL game in Europe, or binge watch Breaking Bad, but no other place has jnull0 cracking hickory nuts. Frankly, they don’t know what they’re missing.Get your balls in the game! Donate to the Sean Kimerling Foundation to win the battle against testicular cancer.
