Divers Discover Huge Ball Of Squid Mucus

The ocean is a mysterious place, teeming with lifeforms we know very little about. Even the most experienced divers often get surprised by their discoveries. Case in point: when a National Geographic team went down off the coast of Turkey, they weren’t expecting to run into a ball of clear slime that measured 13 feet across. The ball was teeming with millions of eggs, most likely laid by a red flying squid. It’s rare to encounter an egg mass in the wild, as they typically dissipate after just a few days, and this ball of squid eggs was one of the largest ever encountered. Let’s hope that a few of the baby squid inside lead long and healthy lives.
