Oh, Deflategate. We can’t think of a more shameful recent event in balls history. Tom Brady knew that his staff was letting air out of the balls to give him a better grip, it may have contributed to their AFC championship win and helped send the Patriots to the Super Bowl. It’s just gross and we’d rather leave it all behind us.
But what if, for some reason, you’re a person who wants to have a memento of Deflategate lying around in your house for the rest of your life? And what if you’re also a person with $25,000 to spare on such an item? It’s your lucky day, buddy, because one of Brady’s flaccid footballs is up for auction.
Auction site Leland’s describes the ball as “the actual Touchdown Ball handed off by quarterback Tom Brady to LeGarrette Blount who ran it into the end zone for a touchdown. Blount dropped the ball while celebrating, where it was picked up by receiver Brandon LaFell who handed it to a fan in the stands.” Let that be a lesson to you athletes: never give a fan a ball, because they will just sell it later to buy themselves a Dodge Stratus or something.
The auction closes on July 18th, so you have a month or so to raise the money to buy this thing and then throw it into Mount Doom or something to end Tom Brady’s curse on this world. Do it for all the balls that got needles put into them and air sucked out just so Touchdown Tom could get a cameo in Ted 2.Get your balls in the game!
