Guns and balls don’t mix, but especially not when you’re riding the bus. That’s what a Chicago man learned last week when an accidental firearm discharge left him minus one ball.

While riding a Megabus from Madison, Wisconsin back to his hometown, the unidentified 21 year old man accidentally discharged a pistol that was in the waistband of his pants. The bus was parked at the Langdon Street at Lake Street stop, and when the shot went off, the suspect staggered to his feet and made his way to the bathroom at the back of the vehicle.

He deposited the handgun in the bus toilet and tried to flee the scene, with the driver frantically warning him that he needed medical attention. The victim didn’t get far after he exited the bus, and paramedics took him to the hospital where they patched him up and determined that his injuries, although grisly, weren’t life-threatening.

The next step is deciding what charges will be pressed against the poor guy, as discharging a firearm in a public place, even by accident, is against the law. You could argue that the victim’s suffered enough, but maybe a ball isn’t the price you pay for this kind of stupidity.
