Here’s a pretty charming thing from our Canadian neighbors. Apparently, every year Sainte-Catherine Street up in Montreal gets some special decorations in the summer. The street closes to traffic, businesses open their terraces, and it morphs into an eminently walkable spot that draws cheerful Quebecers.
The decorations are a big part of Sainte-Catherine’s magic. Like a canopy over the thoroughfare, hundreds and hundreds of colorful balls are strung up from one side to the other. Typically, these balls have all been a single solid color, but 2017 saw a little changeup.
This year’s balls are a gradient of rainbow colors, transitioning from pink at one end to blue at the other and going through the spectrum in the middle. The end result is remarkably magical.
