Nevada Man Turns Golf Balls Into Weapons

In this increasingly dangerous world, people are trying to find ways to control guns and other deadly weapons. But a Nevada man did an end run around laws by turning golf balls into dealy weapons.

Ricky Taylor is facing charges of manufacture or possession of an explosive or incendiary device, possession of a silencer, possession of a component of an explosive or incendiary device with intent to manufacture an explosive or incendiary device and possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents filed on Thursday.

Taylor was staying at a Budget Suites and left his room. When the housekeeper came in, she discovered a bag full of plastic guns and golf balls that had been cut in half and re-assembled. She naturally called the police, who sent in a bomb squad to clean out the weapons cache.

The golf balls had been sawed in half, hollowed out and filled with gunpowder, BBs and shards of glass. If thrown, the gunpowder could ignite, causing the ball to explode and fling shrapnel over a small area. Taylor was caught the next day in a Von’s parking lot and admitted that he used a slingshot to propel the deadly balls. He was quickly taken into custody.
