These Ants Are Tiny Balls Of Fire

If there’s one member of the insect kingdom that we don’t want to cause any hassle with, it’s the Amazon fire ant. These vicious little Formicidae are capable of delivering a bite that injects cell-destroying venom that can break down any organic matter, even human flesh. Because they’re so small, they’re often called “tiny balls of fire” because of the intense stinging pain they bring. Things get even scarier around monsoon season, when the ants join their bodies together to float atop the rising water and survive for months on end. Insects are pretty amazing, and pretty terrifying.
