Uncle Joe's Mint Balls Helping Fight Coronavirus

When you talk about candy companies, one name that has stood the test of time is Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls. These uniquely British confections have been manufactured for over a century, and now their corporate owners, William Santus & Co, are ramping up production on lozenges and cough suppressants to help the country and the world battle back the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The company is famous for the mint balls, but their lozenges and suppressants have also proven popular since the 1930s. The lozenges contain menthol and eucalyptus, which soothe the throat and help calm fever, while the suppressants contain ten different herbs. All of the recipes have been passed down from generation to generation in the Santus family, and are still made in the classic fashion - just at larger scale.

Now Santus & Co is changing their production targets, knocking out less of the famous mint balls in order to get more of the medicinal products on the market. It might not be a miracle cure for the coronavirus, but it will at least make a few more people comfortable as they wait for the disease to pass. So if you have a craving for Uncle Joe’s, pick up some tins now, because they might be harder to find in the months ahead.
