Watch These Crystal Balls Roll Uphill

TAGGED:

Science and magic, to the untrained eye, can seem basically indistinguishable. Our primitive ancestors, when confronted with images of crystal balls rolling uphill, would have blamed it on evil spirits. But we know it’s just potassium chloride doing its business.

Potassium chloride is a type of salt that has some pretty interesting abilities. Using a close-up camera, you can see how they move inside the small container they’re stored in. Sure enough, they pretty much flaunt the laws of gravity and migrate to the top of the container despite the lack of any motive force.

This clip, from popular science YouTuber Thunderf00t, is something pretty fascinating in the balls world. We’re very down with seeing any more balls that defy the laws of nature, so tip us off in the comments.
