Watch Steel Balls Get Made

There’s something really soothing about videos of industrial processes. Maybe it’s gaining an awareness of the work that goes into creating every element of life in the modern world, even as our own lives become increasingly distant from production. Whatever the cause, this clip of steel balls being ground down and manufactured by a Chinese company is enjoying a little viral boost because it’s just so fun to watch.

The Ireata Grinding Ball company is located in Shendong, and bills itself as a “research-oriented grinding ball supplier,” meaning that their steel balls need to be made to very precise and exacting standards. The process of making them isn’t terrifically complex, but the unique array of specialized machines that the factory boasts is pretty cool. Take a few minutes out of your day and enjoy.
