Would You Pay $150 For A Meatball?

We’re obviously big fans of Italian food over here at the Ball Report, but even we have our limits. Case in point: a meatball shop in Washington, D.C. is offering up a massive wad of delicious meat and cheese that will run you a hundred and fifty bucks. Weighing in at seven pounds, this huge meatball requires 24 hours advance notice to prepare, and the eatery is only offering it from March 9th through the end of the month.

Originally founded in New York City, The Meatball Shop has been wildly successful in the Big Apple, now boasting six locations there, and is now branching out, opening its first D.C. outpost earlier in the year. If you don’t feel like dropping a Benjamin and a half on an enormous one, their menu has plenty of more reasonably-sized options for you. Serious eaters can also undertake the Bucket of Balls challenge on March 9th, but you’ll need to bring a friend.

For the challenge, you have 10 minutes to down 25 meatballs – a titanic task, even split between two people, because these things are dense and filling. If you manage it, you can split a $55 gift card and be entered into a drawing to win a catered meatball party for six. Sounds like a deal to me.
